Communion
Communion looked different for those at the church in Corinth. So much so in fact, that the Apostle Paul had to admonish and remind them of what the Lord’s Supper is all about. The Corinthians had let their greed and selfish interests trivialize the act of Communion, and it had gotten to the point where it would have been better if they hadn’t bothered to try to honor Christ’s sacrifice at all. As we partake in our own Communion this week, we consider the many different ways churches today choose to honor the Lord in this holy meal. Even though we now take the Lord’s Supper much differently than the church at Corinth did, we still may share some similarities in our individual lives. What are some things that we have in common with the Corinthians? How might we inadvertently trivialize Communion? Why is the familial aspect of the Lord’s Supper so important? Join us as we learn more about what Communion is and isn’t and prepare our hearts to honor what Christ has done for us as we continue our series.
