Week 1

Oct 4, 2020    Mitch Melzer

We’re beginning a new series this week studying the Book of James. There is a lot of wisdom to be found in this book as Jesus’ brother gives instruction for those who love Jesus on how to live their lives authentically for Him. Strangely enough, part of his instructions tell us to consider our trials with “pure joy”. Undoubtedly, many of us can say that we are, or already have, faced trials and troubles, but what exactly does he mean when he tells us to “consider it pure joy”? What are some things that we know about the troubles we face in life? How can James’ advice shift our outlook in order to help us to handle our problems? What is James NOT telling us about the troubles of this life? These first handfuls of verses have a lot to offer for those seeking answers to their problems. Watch as take a deep look at the wisdom of James, learning how to understand and thrive through hardship, as we kick off our series.
