After the Whale

Jonah has finally made it to Nineveh and sets about the task that God originally assigned him: proclaiming the Lord’s message to the city. Upon hearing the warning, the Ninevites immediately repent and seek God’s mercy. The Lord’s forgiveness didn’t sit quite right with Jonah, however, and he made his complaints known to God. Here, we are able to see the things that Jonah truly valued and what he was concerned about. Through God’s rebuttal, we are able to see His bigger picture, and the example of how we are to care about others. What do we truly value? What sort of things are a matter of concern to us? How can we learn to think like God when it comes to other people in our lives? The book of Jonah offers us a model with which we can learn how to reorient our own values and concerns. Join us now as we conclude this brilliant book of Scripture!
